You win some, you lose some you know…

The nominations for the 2018 American Music Awards were just announced at YouTube Space LA by Bebe Rhexa, Normani, Ella Mai, & Kane Brown getting us all excited and talking about the next award show. Tracee Ellis Ross will be returning to host the 3-hour show, and this year the people being honored will be based on fan interactions. Meaning: streams, digital song sales, radio airplay, and album sales and touring.

The artists with the MOST nominations this year were Cardi B, Camila Cabello, Drake, Taylor Swift, Kane Brown & Post Malone. Cardi B and Drake are tied for most nominations with 8 each. And Taylor is actually up for 4 trophies this year (who by the way currently has 19 AMA’s at home).

Tay was actually with Ed Sheeran when the noms were announced and she uploaded the funniest video to her Instagram: TOSS:

But just wait because it gets funnier: TOSS:

Tay then made a joke in her caption about the pop/rock category nominations by writing QUOTE “Safe to say whoever wins the AMA for fav pop/rock album will be an artist who writes songs about love and heartbreak 😂 YOU get to decide who it’ll be. Vote at the link in my bio @AMAs”

Moving on to the biggest snubs that everyone’s talking about right now. Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj received no nominations for their music because apparently, they missed the deadline for their music to be considered which was on August 9th. Nicki released QUEEN the next ady on August 10th and Ari dropped Sweetner on August 17th. Don’t worry though; Ariana did get nominated for Favorite Social Artist along with our favorite K-pop brand BTS!
Don’t worry B-hive, Beyoncé didn’t completely get snubbed. She got nominated for one AMA which was Tour of The Year for her OTR II Tour with her husband Jay-Z.

Some other snubs however included Selena Gomez who did NOT get a nod for her summer jam “Back to You” off of the 13 Reasons Why soundtracks.
The 2018 American Music Awards will air on Tuesday, October 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
